The course consists of a variety of topics related to financial markets and institutions. The course consists of six components. The first part gives a general overview of the financial system. The second part provides a background on financial markets. The third part introduces the role of financial institutions. The fourth part discusses the functions of central banks and the Federal Reserve system and their conduct of monetary policy. The fifth part lists a number of financial markets and their characteristics. The sixth part looks at the financial institutions and their operations. The seventh part introduces the management of risk through the use of financial derivatives.
